“We elves like to stick to the 4 main food groups-candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup!” Elf, the movie
Earlier this week I published a post with some wonderful Christmas cocktails. I promise you that is NOT all we will be having before our holiday meal! I don’t think dinner would make it to the table if we did! (HA!) We like to do a veggie tray with dip and we will definitely have one again this year but I thought I might shake things up a bit and add a little variety to the mix. Once again I asked my blogging friends for some Christmas party appetizer ideas and boy, did they deliver! Here are some of my favorites…
I’m not on a gluten free diet but these Gluten-free Chip and Guacamole Bites from Michelle with MyGlutenFreeKitchen.com could easily convert me. They are SO easy to put together and I’m a guacamole fiend. A side note-I’m one of those who can’t stand cilantro but feel free to use my share on your Guacamole Bites!
If you have an extra bag of Tostitos after making your guacamole bites, save them for this wonderful (and EASY!) Chicken Rotel Dip from Trisha at TrishaDishes.com. This recipe only has 3 ingredients and can be made as mild or spicy as you like depending on what kind of Rotel you use. Yum!!
One more for the chips and salsa crowd is this wonderful Cranberry Salsa from Emilie with findingzest.com. This would be a great make-ahead recipe since it needs at least a day for the flavors to blend. I like her idea of serving it over a block of softened cream cheese with crackers.
My time in Italy turned me on to Buffalo Mozzarella for good. There’s just something about the fresh stuff that makes my taste buds happy! Jee with ohhowcivilized.com shared her recipe for Tomato, Mozzarella & Basil tea sandwiches and that was all she wrote…I have some leftover sub rolls in my freezer that I think I may substitute for the focaccia since I have it on hand but focaccia would be awesome, too! Enjoy!
I told you in the Toasting Christmas post that Hubs is a bacon fiend. I don’t fix it much since it’s really not good for you but since Christmas is his birthday I couldn’t disappoint him by not having bacon on our menu somewhere (besides breakfast!). Jasmine with stylishcravings.com shared her recipe for Bacon Cheeseball Bites and they look absolutely delicious! These WILL be on my appetizer table this Christmas!!
Drinks and appetizers are served! I plan on fixing these for my family Christmas celebration and I hope you decide to try one or two of them, too. Share in the comments if you do! Mangia!
Be well and God Bless-until we meet again…
