“Another glass; it is Christmas time, it will do you no harm.” William Makepeace Thackeray
Hubs and I don’t go out much during Christmas-we much prefer to entertain at home. The Christmas Day celebration is always held at our house, since it’s also Hubs’ birthday! Because it’s so hard to feel special on a birthday where EVERYONE gets a gift, I always try to make him feel extra special on his birthday. His one wish is to stay at home, so that’s what we do. Oh, and bacon-don’t forget that bacon! We’ll save that for another day-this post is dedicated to, well, drinking! A good holiday themed cocktail is a sure-fire way to set the celebration mood. I asked some of my fellow bloggers for some of their favorite Christmas drinks and they did not disappoint! My family’s tastes are varied but I think I’ve been able to find a little something for everyone…
My brother in law is a Wild Turkey kind of guy-bourbon is his go-to drink. I wonder if he’d like for us to try some Hot Buttered Bourbon-it’s decadent but sounds heavenly! Thank you Jen from SavorySimple.net for sharing this wonderful recipe!
My sister in law got me hooked on LemonDrops a few Christmases ago. She brought all the ingredients and it was pretty warm here so I pulled out the VitaMix, grabbed some ice, and made some of the most wonderful slushies ever! Pam with SidewalkShoes.com posted the most wonderful Candy Cane Vodka recipe that I think my sister in law will absolutely love!
My sister in law’s mom moved in with them a few years ago and she has been a welcome part of our Christmas celebration ever since. She’s in her 80s now but still pretty active. She loves a good glass of wine on occasion so I thought she might like this Traditional Wassail, courtesy of Holly from PinkFortitude.com.
Hubs is a beer guy, so hand him an ice cold Corona with a lime slice and he’s usually good to go. When I first met him back in the early 1980s he was a bartender. Sangria was very popular back then so I thought he might enjoy mixing up some of this Cranberry Apple Cider Sangria to get the party started. Thanks to Elaine from FlavourandSavour.com.
Now it’s my turn…my favorite Christmas drink was put together sort of by accident. I was watching Cooking Channel and G. Garvin was mixing a drink called the Georgia Shake Cocktail. I live in Georgia, so I thought, why not? Christmas was once again unusually warm here so I pulled out the VitaMix and blended up some slushies. Oh, MY!
Well, my family is taken care of-how about yours? I hope you’ve found something here to your liking. Cheers!
Be well and God Bless-until we meet again…
